Can I cancel my insurance policy?

In most instance you may cancel a Visicover policy within 14 days of its start date or renewal. So long as there has been no notification of an event likely to give rise to a claim, you will only be charged for the period of cover provided plus a cancellation fee and insurance tax. The level of the fee varies by product but is stated on the quote summary before you purchase your policy.

After the 14 day period you can cancel the policy at any time. So long as there has been no notification of an event likely to give rise to a claim, you should, subject to the minimum refund value, receive a pro rata refund based on the period commencing 30 days after the cancellation date and ending on the cover end date as stated in the Policy Schedule.

The main exceptions to the above would be if there are any covers in force which preclude immediate cancellation, For example, if there is a finance lease contract on an aircraft and the interests of the finance lease company are noted on the policy, there may be a requirement to give the finance lease company a certain amount of notice before the policy is cancelled so as to ensure their interests are protected.
