Boat Insurance: What is Alternative Accommodation cover?

This option under the boat insurance policy can pay towards the cost of alternative accommodation for you and your immediate family if your vessel is a houseboat and it becomes uninhabitable following insured loss or damage. This option can also cover temporary accommodation costs for your pets, plus temporary storage costs for your houseboat contents.

You select what cover limit you require up to £25,000, and there is no excess for you to pay in respect of a claim on this cover.

There are various exclusions which apply to this option, such as there being no cover for the costs associated with keeping livestock or for costs incurred after your houseboat has become habitable again.

This option is only available if you have also selected the ‘Houseboat Contents’ option.

The Policy Booklet contains full details about how this cover operates, including any exclusions or conditions.
